ANGIER- Betty Stephenson Denning, 85, passed away Tuesday at her home surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Angier, Betty lived a Christian life and served her God in many ways thru the years. She attended Angier Baptist Church. Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Max Denning; her parents, N. V. Stephenson, Sr. and Vera Weeks Stephenson; baby brother, David Stephenson, brother, N. V. Stephenson, Jr., sisters, Ruth S. Harvell, Sarah S. Dupree and Lucille S. Scheller. Betty is survived by her children, Wesley Denning and wife, Deborah, Gary Denning and friend, Paula Gillikin, Amanda D. Marshall and husband, Lee; grandsons, Matthew Denning and wife, Lisa, Chris Wegner and wife, Amanda; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Emily Denning, Skylar and Laken Wegner; step-grandaughters, Leigha Riddle, Jesi Jackson; step-great-grandson, Kiah Jackson; step-great-granddaughter, Aubrey Riddle; sisters, Inez S. Wilson, Javain S. Griffis; brothers, Dwight Stephenson and wife, Eloise, Bobby Stephenson and wife Loretta, Neil Stephenson and wife, Martha; twenty four nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Angier Baptist Church, with Rev. Grover K. Blackburn presiding. Interment will follow at the Angier Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier and at other times at the home of Betty Denning, 204 Homestead Rd. Angier, NC 27501. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Angier Memorial Cemetery, P. O. Box 1348 Angier, NC 27501 or Angier Baptist Church Building Fund, 155 S. Hickory St. Angier, NC 27501 in Betty’s memory.
