ANGIER -Betty Sue Collins DuPree Upchurch, 79, passed away Tuesday at Liberty Commons in Benson. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Dallas Collins and Beulah Stephenson Collins. Betty Sue worked as a hairstylist in the Angier area for over 35 years. She faithfully attended local churches her entire life, including, Angier Primitive Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, Benson Grove Baptist Church, Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church, and Calvary Raleigh. Betty Sue served as an Awana leader, choir member, and nursery volunteer. She loved to crochet and sew, and enjoyed listening to all music, especially bluegrass; but more than anything, she loved her grandbabies. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 2nd at 3:00 PM at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. The family will be receiving friends at the home of her daughter, Penny Hall, 740 East Wimberly St, Angier, NC 27501. Betty Sue is survived by her daughters, Lynn Michie Waide of Raleigh, Penny DuPree Hall (Christopher) of Angier; sisters, Peggy Ann Johnson of Greenville, Linda Lou Lawrence (Gerald) of Angier; grandchildren, Alyssa Hall of Angier, Warren Hall of San Antonio, TX, Kylie Owen of Angier, Thomas Hall of Angier; great-grandchild, Logan Whaley of Angier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas DuPree and James McNeill; brother, Richard Allen Collins and 10 other siblings.
