Betty Z. Cowing

RALEIGH – Betty Zora Byrd Cowing, 97, died Wednesday at her home. She was the daughter of the late George Loving Byrd and Mary Alice Roberts Byrd. A graveside service with entombment in the mausoleum will be held on Friday, August 23rd at 11:00 am at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh. Survivors include her daughters, Monteen Adams of Fuquay-Varina and Sandra Shannon of Monroe; grandchildren, Kelly Moses of Charleston, SC, Becky Spivey of Wilmington, Ivy Adams of Fuquay-Varina and Lisa Fish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James E. Fish and V.J. Cowing; son, Pete Fish, Sr.; grandsons, Derrick Adams, Cadwell Adams and Pete Fish, Jr., as well as 13 brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
