Bill Cramer

GARNER - George William Bill Cramer, Sr. 97 of Garner, NC, died July 1, 2013. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Meredith Hope Watring Cramer in 2009. The oldest of six children, Bill was born April 2, 1916 in Bluefield, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. L. L. Cramer and Laura Smith Cramer, brothers, Richard and Dan Cramer, and great-granddaughter, Alison Turley. Bill worked for Curtis Wright Airplane Factory in New York, building planes for the war effort, before joining Greyhound Bus Lines retiring in 1979 after 33 years of service. He was a faithful member of Garner United Methodist Church; a 64 -year Mason, and a member of Vandora Masonic Lodge #745. His long life was full of love for family and friends, and his sense of humor and kindness to others will be missed. Bills spirit will always live in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Bill is survived by his sisters, Mary C. Lipphardt of Wheeling, WV and Tina C. Hazen (Jim) of Jacksonville, FL. and brother, Robert E. Cramer (Marge) of Bluffton, SC. He is survived by his children, Dorotha Jean C. Turley of Hurricane, WV, Bill Cramer, Jr. of Henderson, NC and Barbara Bobbie C. Buffaloe and husband, Fred of Garner, NC. and his grandchildren, Chris Turley and wife Lisa, Robin Turley, Bill Cramer, III and wife LaDawn, Brian Cramer, Michael Buffaloe, Allison B. Myers and husband, Billy, and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Lawndale Manor Assisted Living for their loving care while Bill was a resident the past several months. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Garner United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 12:00. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
