WILLOW SPRING - Bill Lee Jones, 80, was welcomed by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into his eternal heavenly home on Thursday from Hospice of Wake County. A native of Wake County, Bill was the son of Kenneth Thomas and Christiana Blalock Jones. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean conflict. Following his marriage to Shirley Godwin, they moved to Guam in 1954 and joined his brothers in business. While on Guam, he was active in the Gideon Bible ministry and served as chairman of the board of trustees for many years at Bayview Baptist Church, Agana, Guam. His community service included involvement in the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts and the American Cancer Society. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Godwin Jones and four daughters, Teresa and husband Todd Jackson of Willow Spring; Denise and husband, Jim Haughney of Willow Spring; Beverly and husband, Greg Hamrick of Atlanta, GA; and Lori and husband, Dan Wagner of Willow Spring. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tim Murfin and wife, Mandi; Michael Murfin; Jeremy Murfin; Jennifer and husband, Adam Thompson; Jessica Hamrick; Brandon Hamrick; Daniel Wright; Deanna Wright; two great grandchildren, Josh and Will Murfin; brothers, Mack Jones and wife, Dolores of Arizona; Bob Jones and wife, Margaret of Guam; sisters, Georgia Stafford of Garner and Estelle Lawrence of Garner; Ruth Hartsell of Henderson and sister-in-law, Elaine Jones of Guam. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Pearl Godwin and brothers, Kenneth Jones, Jr. and Watson Jones, son-in-law, Stephen Murfin, nephew, Tom Jones; sister-in-law, Janie Jones and brothers-in-law, Raymond Lawrence, Harold Hartsell and Elton Jones. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, 7900 Ten-Ten Road, Raleigh, NC 27603 (919) 779-9456. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
