Bobbi Packard Sauls

August 18, 1951 — December 5, 2015

RALEIGH – Bobbi’s life story in a nutshell: August 18, 1951- December 5, 2015. To anyone under the age of 15, she was affectionately known as “Bubbi”. Not a fan of conventional…anything, instead of a “regular” obituary, she would want her life to be described in an amusing light. Bobbi was best known for her love of sweet tea, thrift stores, beach music, a good book, chocolate, and any home improvement project she could imagine. And if you asked her, there was always a home improvement project to be tackled. If you couldn’t find one, well, you just weren’t looking hard enough. However, as much as she loved her sweet tea and such, she loved her family and friends so much more. If you were her friend, you quickly came to realize that she was a shoulder to cry on, a person to laugh with, and the friend most likely to help you sneak out of the house. If you were a family member, you understood that, despite the fact that she constantly had four or five projects going on in her life, if you needed her, she was ready to jump in and help whenever she was asked-as long as you knew that her helping hand always came with the contingency of allowing her to retile your floor on the way out the front door (and, let’s face it, she’d also paint that front door). But for her grandchildren, well, quite simply, Bubbi hung the moon…a moon, no doubt, covered in glitter and sequins. She didn’t do anything on a small scale. She knew everyone’s story. And if you didn’t share your story with her, she’d just make one up. Bobbi’s story on this earth might have come to an abrupt end, but the epilogue will carry on in her six children-who may be grown but weren’t ready to let her go; her five grandchildren-who have oodles of fond memories of their sweet Bubbi; a best friend- who has promised to share untold Bobbi stories with her children at a later time; the father of her three children- who, although he was no longer married to her, is still able to reflect on the “good times” they had during their almost 34 years together; a sister and four brothers- who certainly have countless outrageous stories to share of their own escapades; and the scores of family and friends, whose lives Bobbi so deeply touched. A Memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of NC, 505 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27605.
