Bobby Bowyer, 79, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 surrounded by his wife Teresa, daughters Cheryl Arbelaez and Tammy McGee, and sons-in-law Adrian Arbelaez and Tommy McGee.
Bobby Bowyer was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina on November 1, 1943. He graduated from Wagram High School and attended two years of college at Campbell University.
Bobby was married to his one and only love, Teresa Jones Bowyer for almost 57 years. Bobby had two daughters, Cheryl and Tammy, who had great love, respect, and admiration for their father. Bobby had two sons-in-law, Adrian and Tommy. Bobby loved Adrian and Tommy as if they were his own. Bobby loved his canine companion, Cody, and Cody loved him. Bobby was the first person Cody would go to when he wanted food, when he wanted to go outside, or when he wanted a treat. Bobby was the first person Cody would go to if he wanted to play.
There was never a doubt Bobby loved his immediate and extended family. He said it and he showed it. Bobby was a kind, loving, thoughtful, and humble man who will be missed and remembered by the family and friends he loved and all the lives he touched.
Bobby worked for years in construction as a superintendent for Davidson and Jones Construction Company and Clancy & Theys Construction. After completion of his industry work in construction, he continued to work on small jobs with his son-in-law Tommy. Bobby loved working with his hands and with wood. Just a couple of years ago, Bobby made his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren birdhouses and other wood pieces made with his own hands out of love for each one of them. The love Bobby had for each family member was shown in the detail of his work. He was a master in his craftmanship. He took his work personal because he did all he did as if he was doing it unto The Lord.
Bobby was a very humble man who greatly loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved his Heavenly Father and he lived outwardly the actions of love in an unassuming way. Bobby would give the last dime he had or the shirt off his back if he knew someone needed it. He often gave in secret to those in need. He was a very private man who believed that that which was done, should be done in secret because no one needed to know…only The Lord.
Bobby loved his Heavenly Father and continued to his last days learning, studying, and memorizing Scripture. He often did so through the reading of his Greek Bible. Bobby taught himself how to read and write in Greek. Bobby sought to get as close to the original version of Scripture as possible.
Bobby was the oldest child of eight children, and is survived by his wife Teresa Bowyer, his two daughters Cheryl Arbelaez (Adrian Arbelaez) and Tammy McGee (Tommy McGee), his grandchildren Thomas McGee (29) (Bethany McGee), Emily Sweet (28) (Clayton Dwight Sweet, IV), Taylor McGee Stuenzi (27) (Cody Stuenzi), Deana Arbelaez Schoenberger (25) (Richard Schoenberger, II), Cristina Arbelaez (23), Lacey McGee (22), Caroline Arbelaez (20), Allie McGee (19), his great-granddaughter, Harper Rae McGee (1), his sisters and brothers Becky Canady (Lawrence Canady) of Hope Mills, Lawrence Hamer Bowyer (Jeanne Bowyer) of Zebulon, Charles Ray Bowyer of Knightdale, Elizabeth Berry (Gary Berry) of Knightdale, Rachel Hammer (Doug Hammer) of Pine Knoll Shores, and Michael Bowyer of Raleigh.
Bobby was predeceased by his father Lawrence Junior Bowyer, his mother Effie Nette Sessoms Bowyer, and his brother, Lawrence Junior Bowyer.
Bobby loved diving deep into Scripture and learning more about His Lord and Savior. Bobby has now seen his Heavenly Father and is now walking on streets of gold with Him and the many loved ones who preceded his entrance through the pearly gates of glory.
Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
