ANGIER - Bobby E. Champion, 66, died October 11, 2012, with his family by his side in Raleigh, NC. He was a member of the Southern Rodeo, International Professional Rodeo, and Mid Atlantic Rodeo Associations where he received trophy buckles for his skills as a Champion Calf Roper throughout his life. A Utility Power Lineman by trade he was employed throughout his career by Stackhouse, Dick Weeks, Mid American Utility, and the Town of Clayton. A member of the Fuquay Twins semi-pro baseball team (1971) where he played second base. Mr. Champion is survived by his sons, Marty E. Champion and Shelley Haislip of Quinto, VA; and Robbie E, Champion and wife, Delane, of Lillington, NC and grandchildren: Stephen, Jacob, Jessica and Tanner; brother, Larry Champion (Kathy); sisters, Vivian Stephenson (Simon), Alma Jean Redd, and Tredonia Dupree. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mallie and Felma Champion, brothers, Reed, Lonnie, and Jimmy Dale Champion. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 27, 2012, 5:00 -7:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home located at 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC.
