CARY – Bonnie Rumell Mooneyham Hankel, 95, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
She was born in Johnston County on August 6, 1928, the daughter of the late Bonnie Graham Mooneyham and Ollie Kirks Mooneyham. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Billie J. Hankel; brother, Graham “Buck” Mooneyham; and by a sister, Louise Durkin.
She is survived by her daughters, Gayle Stone of Madrid, Spain, June Yates of Durham, Susan Nance (John) of Cary; sisters, Peggy Bridges of Fuquay-Varina, Brona Gill of High Point; brother, Bobby Mooneyham of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Mandy Morris (Mike), Michael Stone (Charmaine), Zack Yates, Jeremy Yates (Lauren), Matt Nance, Josh Nance (Jessica), Emily Khanna (Ash); 10 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong dear friend, Debbie Spurling.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 10 at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Food Bank of North Carolina , or a charity of your choice.
