Boyce "Jay" Holshouser

RALEIGH – Boyce “Jay” Holshouser, 60, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 13, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones. Throughout his valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, Jay never lost his faith or will to fight. Many would describe Jay as a determined individual who was a devoted Triathlete - swimming, running, and cycling. He also ran in multiple races and marathons across the Country for Charity. In addition to traveling, you could find Jay spending time with Family and Friends in the kitchen, or outdoors tending to his bees. Jay was born in Rowan County on March 16, 1962. He spent 24 years of his career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC and was most recently employed with IBM where he had been for over 5 years. Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Jones; father, Bobby Ray Holshouser; brother, Terry Holshouser; and uncle, Joseph Jones. He is survived by his long-time partner and spouse of almost 30 years, Roger McKay; sisters, Amy Austin and husband, Mark; Cheri Lamb; father, David “Steven” Elliott; his canine companion, Tanner; nieces and nephews (Asher, Kira, Megan, Katelyn, and Lacey). A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on April 30, 2022, in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC. This will be immediately followed by a reception, which we would like to extend an invitation for all to attend.
