Brenda Atkins Womble

Garner – Brenda Atkins Womble, 73, went to her heavenly home on March 2, 2023. She was born on March 27, 1949, to John Harold Womble and Mary Alice Atkins Womble, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Brenda was a lifelong native of Wake County. She loved attending her home church, Highland Baptist, where she was a long-time member. Family always came first for Brenda, and she made sure everyone knew how she cherished them. She was the most loving mother, an amazing sister, a doting aunt, and above all, a very loved "BeBe" to her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Brenda was always so thoughtful, sweet and was constantly thinking of others, as she sent greeting cards to those she knew in celebration of a birthday, holiday, or just because. Brenda enjoyed a long career with the Department of Commerce where she retired with more than 30 years of service. Outside of work and church, Brenda loved a good shopping day, a good game of cards, but most of all, just time with her family. Brenda will be missed every day by her family and friends, but they find comfort in knowing they will see her again one day.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 5, 2023, 2:30pm, at Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Road, Raleigh, North Carolina, 27603. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 1:00 - 2:15pm, prior to the service at Highland Baptist Church. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Brenda is survived by her daughter, Beth Simmons (Ken); son, Jason Watson; grandchildren, Noah Tucker Simmons and Cannon Glenn Watson; sisters, Becky Hupp (Norm) and Cindy Burke (David); and her many nieces and nephews, Cameron Nelson (Justin), Abby Noailles (Clancy), John Burke (Alexis), Anna Burke (Mike), Jodi Mitchiner (Donnie), and Rusty Mitchiner.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her loving partner, Rick Watson.
