Brenda Dunn Byrd

Brenda Dunn Byrd passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023. She was born December 15, 1944 to the late Robert Walter Dunn and Allie Mae Lee Dunn. In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Byrd; brother, Charles Ray Dunn and sister Allene Dunn.

She is survived by her loving family which includes her daughter Priscilla Byrd of Cary; and her son, Derick Byrd and wife, Kaori of Mckinney, TX; her sister, Jean Mason of Raleigh; two brothers, James Robert Dunn of Fuquay-Varina, and Sherwood Dunn and wife, Janet of Garner.

Brenda found her calling as a teacher and then a school counselor for Wake County Schools. She retired from the school system in 2007 while serving at Garner Senior High School. She was honored as the Wake County School Counselor of the Year in 2004. Brenda was a great storyteller with an amazing memory. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Her visitation will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner from 10:00 to 10:45 am and her funeral service at 11am in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
