ANGIER – Brookie Honeycutt Cotton passed away Saturday at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. We celebrate her life of 89 years. A life of thinking of others, generously giving and serving so many friends, family and acquaintances! Married to her best friend Troy for 54 years… and truly missing holding his hand for the last 12 years! Marked by her love for God and His Word, she said in recent days, “You don’t really know love until you know God’s love. He is L.O.V.E.” A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 10:00 AM at Harnett Memorial Gardens, Lillington. She was preceded by her Father- H. D. Honeycutt, Mother- Rena Honeycutt, Sister- Doris Terrell, and Husband- Troy Cotton. Survived by; Sons, Larry Cotton and wife Diann Cotton, Steve Cotton and wife Sue Cotton; Brothers, Dan Honeycutt, Ted Honeycutt and wife Sue Honeycutt; Sisters, Reecie Surles and husband Robert Surles, Glenda Padgett; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. “Mimi” (as she was known to us) would surely say to all of us the same words spoken by D.L. Moody and Billy Graham: “Someday you will read or hear that Brookie Cotton of Angier is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will have gone up higher, that is all; I will have just changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Rd, Smithfield, NC 27577.
