Bruce A. Eggers March 8, 1940 - Sept. 1, 2013 Garner- Bruce Eggers knew suffering. He was familiar with grief. Yet, thanks to his great drive and strong faith, Bruce was able to thrive in this life. Bruce died Sunday, leaving behind his wife, Pat Eggers, his family and many friends who loved and adored him.Sent to an orphanage as a child, Bruce overcame numerous hardships to achieve a higher education and careers as an Air Force officer and teacher. On June 10, 1960, Bruce married the love of his life, Patricia Murphy Eggers. Together they raised two daughters, Terri Trapani and Debbie Bunch. Their lives took a tragic turn Jan. 29, 1990 when Bruce suffered a stroke that left him with brain damage and a limited ability to communicate. Doctors said he would not live long, but again Bruce defied the odds. With Pat and his family by his side, and the prayers of many, Bruce regained his ability to walk, and some of his faculties. Pat and Bruce went on to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with many of their family and friends from Garners St. Mary, Mother of the Church.
