RALEIGH - The checkered flag waved today, Bruce Hinton Jeffries, Sr., son of William W. Jeffries and Mary Stokes Jeffries, passed away at Hospice of Wake County on September 1, 2011.Shirley Austin Jeffries, his wife of 40 years passed away on May 1, 1990. A graveside services will be held 2:30 pm Sunday at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The Family will greet friends at the cemetery after the service.Bruce is survived by his brother, Raymond Kenneth Jeffries (Faye) of Wendell, NC; daughter, Deborah J. McCollum (Dan); grandson, John D McCollum, III (JD), and his wife Chrissy; great granddaughter, Vittoria Hope McCollum and great grandson, Austin Jacob McCollum; son, Bruce H. Jeffries Jr.,and daughter in law Denise Jeffries; granddaughters, Lisa Michelle Jeffries, Amanda Leigh Jeffries (Mandy) and daughter, Sandra Jeffries Ball; granddaughters, Lauren Ball Baucom (Brian) and Lindsey Austin Ball, and his loyal companion, Rocky. Bruce loved automobiles and began his career at Conn Gower in downtown Raleigh, Amburn Pontiac on Hillsborough Street and the last 35 years as President of Jeffries and Sons Auto and Marine, on Lake Wheeler Road. Bruce had early onset dementia and never fully recovered from a broken hip about 7 years ago. Bruces children wish to thank Aversboro Assisted Living, Garner, NC, Phoenix Assisted Living, Cary, NC, Hospice of Wake County and Wake Medical Center Cary, NC.
