ANGIER- Mr. Seba “Butch” C. Jones of Angier, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19th surrounded by his loving family, after an extended illness. Butch was a dedicated husband, father and “Poppy” and loved his family beyond measure. He was known and loved in the community for his always present smile, quick wit, and funny antics. Always looking for opportunities in life to serve, Butch proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963 until 1966 during the Vietnam War where he served as a Sentry Dog handler and master. Post service, he returned to his beloved community where he spent countless hours of his life volunteering at school functions, civic organizations and at his church. For more than fifty years, Butch served the Angier Baptist Church as a faithful member and fulfilled roles as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He would often be found there making coffee, opening church doors, and holding umbrellas to keep people out of the rain. Known as the “donut man” he always made sure the children of the church had a sweet treat before Sunday School. The true embodiment of a servant’s heart, he leaves a legacy of humility and grace for those who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of more than 54 years, Joyce Hobson Jones and his two daughters Erica Jones of Angier and Tara Jones Fish and husband Ray of Willow Spring. He leaves behind two precious grandchildren who were the lights of his life, Jenna and Jackson Fish of Willow Spring. He is also survived by a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and special cousins to which he loved and cherished. He was predeceased in death by his parents Inez and Ray Jones, special aunt and uncle Charlie and Frances Harper, and loving in-laws Garland and Emma Hobson. The family wishes to thank the community for their continued prayers and support in the past months and during this very difficult time. Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions can be made to Angier Baptist Church or The Harnett County Partnership for Children’s Baby Steps Program in Butch’s memory.
