Callie Thompson Watkins

Callie Thompson Watkins, 81, died Wednesday at her home. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mable Phillips Thompson. She was a longtime member of Oakland Presbyterian Church and an honorary life member of Presbyterian Women USA. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday at Oakland Presbyterian Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Watkins Fanelli of Carolina Beach; son, Arthur Art Watkins and wife, Melanie of Clayton; sisters, Mable T. Cooke of Wilmington, Edith T. Thomas of Greenville, SC and Repsie T. Johnson of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Arthur Watkins, III and wife, Shelly of Clayton; Allison Watkins Lee and husband, Sheridan of Garner; Caroline Fanelli and Grayson Fanelli, both of Wilmington; great-grandchildren, Adeline Rose Watkins, William Scott Buffaloe Watkins, Ava Elizabeth Lee and James Sheridan Lee II. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert W. Watkins in 2006. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
