Calvin James Erickson

ANGIER – Calvin James Erickson, 54, passed away Thursday. A native of Revillo SD, he is the son of Donna Toft Erickson and the late Arlin Erickson. Calvin is survived by his wife of 34 years, Tammy Erickson, daughters, Stacie Adkins and husband, Will of Angier, Megan Wheeler and husband, Reddin of Angier; sister, Kristi Goos and husband, David of Brookings SD; brothers, Wayne and Darwin Erickson of Revillo SD; grandchildren, Bennett Adkins and Savannah Wheeler, as well as numerous Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Calvin grew up in Revillo, SD. He enjoyed playing sports and was a star athlete in almost every sport there was at Grant Deuel High School. He graduated high school in 1985 then immediately left for to join the Army. After basic and Airborne training he was Stationed at Fort Bragg as an engineer. A few months later he met the love of his life, Tammy. They were married on January 2, 1987, and welcomed two girls, the first in 1988, and the second in 1994, both of which were the apple of his eye. During his career in the Army, he made multiple deployments to fight for our freedom including, Haiti, Honduras, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. He retired in 2008 as a Master Sergeant after 23 years of proudly serving his country. After retirement, he decided to pursue another passion of his, which was mechanics. He became a master mechanic, and then the shop foreman at John Hiester Chrystler, Dodge, Jeep where he was a deeply respected member of their family as well as a mentor and friend to many. Calvin was a family man, and everything he did was for his family. He was an incredible friend, and would do anything he could to help anybody, he was a selfless person who never asked for much. He will be immensely missed by all that knew and loved him. The Family will be accepting visits from family and friends at the Adkins home, 438 Circle Drive, Angier, NC 27501. A memorial service with full military honors will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at 264 Ethel Lane, Angier 27501.
