Candido “Candy” Perez Fernandez

Fuquay-Varina - Candido “Candy” Perez Fernandez, 85, from Fuquay Varina, North Carolina passed away on October 27, 2015, after fighting a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Candido was born October 4, 1930 in Aguas Buena, Puerto Rico to Juan Perez and Marcela Fernandez. On December 26, 1954 he married Margarita Rios in Manhattan, New York and they were blessed with a large family. He has eight surviving children, Diana and Robert Edmunds of Fuquay Varina, NC, Ana and Lee Ratzlaff of Fuquay Varina, NC, Olga and Julio Feliciano of New London, CT, Lillian and Jose Colon of Sandy Hook, CT, Aida and George Correa of Kissimmee, FL, Gladys Perez of Fuquay Varina, NC, Candido Jr and Denise Perez of Deltona, FL. and Maria Perez of St Petersburg, FL. Candido has 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Candido lived in several Central and North Eastern states. In 1974 he moved his family to Clinton, Connecticut where they resided for more than 25 years. He retired from Stanley Black & Decker / Bostitch Plant after 30 years. He was an avid landscaper, diligently maintaining the grounds to his home and a devout Mets fan. He was a devoted son, loving husband and dedicated father, loved spending time with his family. Candidos home was always open to his family and was known as a generous and thoughtful neighbor. Candido comes from a large family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his brothers, Nicolas Perez, Luciano Perez, and his sister, Juanita Perez. His surviving siblings are Cruz Perez, Antonio Perez, Isabel Perez Martinez, Marta Goglas and his twin sister Carmen Perez. A service for Candido will be held on October 31, 2015 at The Bryan –Lee Funeral Home located at 300 E. Mc Iver Street, Angier, North Carolina. Burial will follow at The Greenlawn Memorial Gardens located at 1621 Broad Street, Fuquay Varina, NC. 27527. We welcome all to join us in saying goodbye to this incredible man. We love him and he will be missed dearly.
