Carl Lawrence Ford, Sr.

Carl Lawrence Ford, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 25, 2024. A native of Wake County and graduate of Garner High School. Lawrence was the son of the late Carl Jackson and Louise Langston Ford.

Lawrence was known for his dedication as a Garner Volunteer Firefighter, while being an incredible coach for Pop Warner Football. He was recognized and awarded for perfect attendance in all 12 years of school.He was admired for his unique gift in carpentry. He retired from state Government as a locksmith, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. During retirement, his days were filled with the love of his life, Phyllis. They enjoyed each other, as much as they did babysitting their grand dog, Lil Wayne. Lawrence will always be remembered for his gentle gestures and generous heart. Lawrence was purposeful in his walk of unity with family and friends. He remained dedicated with a servant’s heart.

Lawrence was a loving father, an exceptional father in law, and a nurturing Papa.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11 AM, in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 Benson Road Garner, NC 27529. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends for visitation.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Phyllis Bryan Ford, their children, Rebecca Ford “Becky” Wilson and husband, Bob, Carl Lawrence Ford, Jr. and wife, Sheila, William Mark Ford and wife, Paula, and Patrick Bryan Ford and wife, Veneta; Grandchildren, Chris Collier and wife, Kari, Jennifer Hudda and husband, Josh, Jeremy Wilson and wife, Michelle, Jonathan Wilson and wife, Jeanie, Leslie Cahoon, Lauren Ford and fiancée, Rafael Benitez, Ashley Ford, Adam Faircloth and wife, Samatha, Jessica Glover and husband, Dylan, and Anna Ford and fiancée, Michael Brocco; 20 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; Sister, Annie Lou Ford Sanderford; and Grand dog, “Lil Wayne”.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
