Carl Lawton, Jr., 73, passed away on Thursday. A native of Manhattan County, N.Y., he was the son of the late Carl Lawton, Sr. and Gudun Maude Toedter Lawton. Mr. Lawton was a retired Army Veteran of 21 years in the US Army. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Clayton, NC; a member of International Brotherhood of Iron Workers and Shipbuilders Local 1459 for twenty-five years; retired from CDW Corporation after 15 years; coached Club Soccer Division 4 to Division 1, Toms River Hawks for 15 years; Past Master Counselor Order of DeMolay sponsored by Masonic Lodge 412; 32nd Degree Master Mason, Ocean Lodge #89 in Belmar, NJ; Past Commander of American Legion Post 436, Angier, NC. He is survived by his daughter; Ginger Lawton-Potter and husband, David of Angier, sons, Scott Lawton of Garner, Todd Lawton and wife, Patricia of Corbin, KY, Erik Lawton and wife, Jessica of Garner, brother, Norman Henry Lawton of Columbus, Ohio and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Raps Lawton. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Graveside service will be held at 11:30 at Lakeside Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
