RALEIGH - Carlton Harbin Keith, 85, formerly of Rome, GA died Thursday. He was employed with GE in Rome, GA for 30 years. After his retirement with GE, he worked for several years as a project manager for Pinsons Construction Co. in Rome before moving to Raleigh, NC to be closer to family. He played basketball in high school and was a lifelong baseball fan of the Atlanta Braves. He attended Georgia Tech for a year and always followed their sports. He loved the Peanuts Cartoon and even had a resemblance to Charlie Brown. He was an active member of the 2nd Avenue Baptist Church in Rome for many years. He also was a member of Carpenters for Christ, that built churches in rural areas. Carlton was a very outgoing man who never met a stranger. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh. Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Patricia Reid Keith, step-sons, Ronald Kent Vickery, Jonathan Patrick Vickery, David Thomas Vickery and Judson Reid Vickery; six step grandchildren.
