Carlyn Dreisbach, 84, passed away Saturday, November 9th, 2024. Born on January 9th, 1940, in Victoria, Texas, she was the daughter of Carl “Red” Sharp and Ozella Sharp.

She is survived by her daughter, Traci Jackson Spencer; her daughter, Amanda Dreisbach Rumsey, and her husband, Peter; her son, Paul Winfield Dreisbach, and his fiancé, Adriana; her son-in-law, Guy Taylor; her eight grandchildren: Jack Taylor, Ella Rumsey, Samuel Spencer, Kay Rumsey, Madelynn Spencer, Anthony Spencer, Harlan Dreisbach, and Mae Dreisbach; and her loving cats, Frankie and Lola.
Lynn started her career as an English teacher and spent many years dedicated to raising children as a stay-at-home mother. She returned to work with the Methodist Home for Children in Raleigh, where she was employed until retirement. Throughout her life, she enjoyed helping others and found many meaningful experiences volunteering, most significantly with the hospital, the rape crisis center, Hospice of Wake County, and Plants Delight Nursery.
Lynn was a devoted mother and grandmother (“Ma”) who created beautiful gardens and loved being outside, spending time with family and traveling. She and Joe also enjoyed sharing their time with many good friends. They enjoyed two years of living in France and followed that with many years of travels across the United States and Europe.
She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her sense of humor, kindness, and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a memorial donation in support of either the NC Extension Master Gardener Endowment to the NC Agricultural Foundation, Campus Box 7645, NCSU, Raleigh, NC 27695 or online at go.ncsu.edu/ncmastergardeners or to Hospice of North Carolina, where she volunteered and later received support:
