Clayton - Carmen Abarca, 72, passed away on Tuesday. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at Generation Church, Clayton. Burial will follow on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury. Carmen, formerly of New York by way of Caguas, Puerto Rico, would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge mansion with a chef’s dream kitchen, and a reunion with her husband, parents, and other family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new job is her dream job and her job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing salsa, cooking, speaking fast with her Puerto Rican accent, and worshiping her Lord to her heart’s content. She will especially love that her singing will make the angels jealous. Great music, heartfelt laughter and fulfilling love are guaranteed. The food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her seven children, 26 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren to celebrate life, to cherish each other, to follow the Lord, and to stay true to the family identity she worked hard to forge through consistent effort and stubborn persistence. Low adherence to these instructions will not be tolerated.”
