Carol Ondracek

Carol Ondracek, 72, of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 in Columbia, SC. Carol was born on August 25, 1946 in Durham, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Leonard and Thelma Stevens Ford. She married the love of her life, Joseph, on August 3, 1968. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, traveling, gardening, and cooking. In recent years, she was a snowbird between her beloved home in Michigan during the summer and her daughter and son-in-law’s home in South Carolina during the winter. Spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest joy. A devoted Catholic woman, she prayed the rosary daily. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Ondracek; daughter, Andrea (Ed) Gatzke; grandchildren, Andrew and Elise Gatzke; and siblings, Ann Lindsey, Jean Crawford, Brenda Kelhe, Stephen Ford, and Roger Ford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Al, Leonard, and Gerald Ford, as well as her sisters, Evelyn Benoit and Peggy Beane. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ondracek will be held 10 o’clock in the morning, Monday, May 6th, at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 306 N. Pines Road, Blythewood, SC with Rev. Msgr. James L. LeBlanc officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. A visitation will be held from 5 until 7 o’clock in the evening, Tuesday, May 7th, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC. A funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, Wednesday, May 8th at the funeral home with Deacon Mike Alig officiating. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be said at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum immediately following the funeral.
