The family of Carolyn Stafford of Clayton, NC is deeply saddened to announce her sudden
passing on Feb 23, at the age of 66 years old.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 44 years , David; children: April and
Robert; grandchild Ava; sister Vickie and husband Randy Earp; brothers : Dewayne and wife
Susan Sykes and Fred and wife Karen Sykes; and numerous friends and relatives. She will be so
dearly missed by the whole Special Olympics Johnson County team.
Carolyn spent the last 2 decades serving as volunteer coordinator for Special Olympics North
Carolina Johnson county and received many awards and praise. She worked so passionately to
help improve the organization and the life’s of so many athletes, parents and coaches. She was an
unwavering advocate and true champion of Special Olympics.
Carolyn was the strongest, bravest and kindest woman anyone ever met. She will be greatly
missed and forever in our hearts. “A photograph is a memory you hold in your heart forever”.
She will be reunited with her mother Geneva in heaven whom she missed every day.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday,3/11/23 at Kenly Original Freewill Baptist Church, 107 East Edgerton Street, Kenly, NC.
