Carolyn Annette Fowler, 76, passed away August 31, 2013 at Hospice of Wake County. She was born August 16, 1937 as the only child to Charlie F. Matthews and Lucy C. Matthews. Carolyn was a devoted wife of 54 years to her husband, James Duke Fowler, and she was a fun loving mother to her five children. She was an active member of Apex Baptist Church. Carolyn was a dear friend to many, and she always sought to see the good in others. Over the years in addition to raising her family, she devoted time to serving in her church and her community. Her witty ways were always present, and at a gathering she could easily charm any stranger. Carolyn often left everyone around her with smiles on their faces. She is survived by her husband, James Duke Fowler of Apex; five children: daughter, Kathy Robinson and husband, Scott of Apex; son, Ron Fowler and wife, Shari of Garner, son, Don Fowler and wife, Pam of Apex; daughter, Kim Brodhead of Apex; and son, Jim Fowler of Jacksonville, FL; and nine grandchildren: Amity Robinson, Scotty Robinson, Austin Fowler, Whitley Fowler, Caleb Fowler, Christian Fowler, Micah Fowler, Nick Fowler and Aaron Brodhead. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday, September 2 at Apex Baptist Church, 110 S Salem Street, Apex, NC 27502. A celebration of Carolyns life will be held Tuesday, September 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Apex Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina, NC.
