GARNER – Carolyn Worley Teasley, 67, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at Johnston Health in Smithfield following a courageous battle with Covid-19. She was born in Wayne County on August 31, 1952, the daughter of Pete and Myrtle W. Worley. Having grown up in the Rosewood Community, she graduated from the local high school and would go on to meet an Airman from Georgia who was stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB. Roger and Carolyn were married on July 28, 1971, and their marriage brought many memorable adventures. The Air Force took them to Florida, Germany, Idaho, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In Germany, Carolyn developed a passion for walking marathons where she and Roger would participate in the local Volks Walks (5k and 10k marathons). Once back in the states, she kept her hobby of walking until her health declined. Carolyn was known to be strong-willed, and maybe a bit stubborn if it was called for. Once she made up her mind to do something, she did it. Carolyn obtained her A.A.S. in Human Resources from American InterContinental University. In her spare time, she took joy in publishing short literary works in online forums. A people person at heart, Carolyn flourished in her retail work as a cashier since she loved to make conversation with her customers and meet new people. Of all her pastimes, Carolyn’s favorite was her family. Carolyn adored her grandchildren, and the feeling was mutual. She will be remembered for the loudest laugh which brightened the room and brought a smile on others. Her caring nature and love that she shared with her family will be treasured and deeply missed in the days ahead. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Lafayette Edward “Pete” Worley; and a brother, Edward Ross “Buddy” Worley. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, MSgt. Roger L. Teasley, USAF (Ret.); daughter, Samantha (née Teasley) Kirk of Clayton; son, Brian Lee Teasley and wife, Ashley Marie of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Natalie Lynn Kirk, Jack Alan Lee Kirk, and Lindsay Marie Kirk; mother, Myrtle Anne Wiggs Worley of Goldsboro; sisters, Myrtle Ann Worley of Greensboro, Janet Faye Green and husband, Jerry of High Point; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family; and her canine companions, JoJo and Tippy. The family will receive friends and relatives for a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, located at 831 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC 27604. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow in the chapel at 3:00 pm with Rev. Marshall Stewart officiating. A reception with light refreshments will be hosted in the parlor at the conclusion of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn’s memory to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation: 5969 Cattleridge Blvd., Suite 100, Sarasota, FL 34232; or online at https://parkinsonhope.org/ways-donate/ Under Statewide Executive Order, those planning to attend the service are respectfully requested to wear a face mask or covering. Arrangements are by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Raleigh.
