Carrie Shaffer

Edna Caroline Shaffer, daughter of W. Earl and Lucy Wise passed away on June 28 in her home in Fuquay-Varina, NC. Carrie was born June 4, 1923 in Barrackville, W.V. She married James Wright in 1942 and Mike Shaffer in 1976, both are deceased. She is survived by her daughter, Lenore Moore and husband Brady in Raleigh, NC. She has 3-grandsons Roger (Marianne), Chris (Kirsten and children) and Brian (Vickie and children). She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Helen Wright, Robert Wise, Dorothy Musgrave, Janet Eddy, Kenneth Wise and Bill Wise. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Wise and Oneida Wise and several nieces and nephews. Carrie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Monongah for 67 years where she taught beginners class for many years; she served as Superintendent of church school, Trustee of the church and was a member of the choir. She and Mike were avid bowlers and were in two local leagues. They traveled extensively with the seniors group in Fairmont. After moving to North Carolina, she joined St. Andrews UMC in Garner, NC. Carrie worked for 33 years as a furrier for Jones Fur Service in Fairmont. There will be a visitation at Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont on July 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM followed an Inurnment at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairmont. .
