Cary Linwood Hicks

GARNER-Cary Linwood Hicks, 56, departed this life on Thursday at his home. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late H.I. Hicks and Louise Allen Hicks. He graduated from Garner High School in 1973 and attended Johnston Community College. He was a partner in Level Construction Company for the last 25 years. A caring and giving person, Cary was always ready to help others and support community activities. The Garner community reciprocated this summer with a musical show by several bands that benefited the National Transplant Assistance Fund, as Cary was in need of a liver/kidney transplant. Carys quick wit, generous nature, and great cooking knowledge and skill will provide family and friends with many fond memories. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, 1200 Benson Road, Garner. The family will receive friends following the service. Survivors include his wife, Donna Dean Hicks; sister, Marcia Alford and husband, Jeff; brothers, Harvey Hicks and wife, Joanna and David Hicks and wife, Kathy, all of Raleigh ; half-sisters, Jacqueline Hicks of Willow Spring and Shirley Eberhard and husband, Wayne of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews. Cary is also survived by a special niece, Bridget Dean Luckinbill and husband, Dan and their children, Naomi, Wyatt and Harper Gray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Hicks.
