Catherine Mccarthy Barbour

Catherine McCarthy Barbour passed away January 23, 2016 to join her loved ones in Heaven. Catherine resided the majority of her life in Clayton and had moved to Raleigh to be close to her family. She was a woman full of love with a grateful heart. She was loved by so many and appreciated anything that was done for her. At the age of 95, she loved the Lord, music, adored babies and cherished her family. Catherine will be missed by all who have been blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Leo Barbour; sons, Max Leo Barbour Jr. and Joseph Bryant Barbour. She is survived by sons: David McCarthy Barbour (Melissa) of Brunswick, Ga; John Stephen Barbour (Kimberly) of Raleigh; daughters: Catherine Barbour Batten (Franky) of Raleigh; Syvonne Barbour Callahan (Greg) of Clayton; daughters-in-law: Hanne Barbour of Fayetteville and Wendy Barbour of Clayton. Catherine is also survived by 24 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild; brother: Larry McCarthy (Nancy) of Raleigh; sister: Jane McCarthy Hardy (Wright) of Raleigh; along with many nieces and nephews. The family will received friends on Friday, January 29th from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. On Saturday, January 30th beginning at 11:00 am Funeral Service will be at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church, 121 E. 2nd Street, Clayton NC 27520, and burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton. The family request in Lieu of Flowers contributions be made to the Music Fund at Horne Memorial UMC or The Stain Glass Fund of the Church – Stain Glass Care.
