RALEIGH - Charles Aaron Levy is remembered as a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, cousin and uncle. He is known for his creativity in his design skills in fashion, furniture, stained glass and his love and passion for creating. His kind heart, sense of humor, and dedication to his family will be greatly missed.
Charles, 78, of Raleigh NC, passed away early morning Thursday June 16th 2022 surrounded by his wife and two daughters. He had been battling Multiple Myeloma since July 2021. As he battled cancer to stay with his loved ones, he kept his positive attitude.
He is survived by his loving wife Sue Levy, his children Pam Bessey and her husband John and Marla Levy Brautman and her husband Brad, sister Susan Yanklewitz and husband Mark. Sister and Brother-in-laws Judy Feldman, Fran and Gene Shapiro. Charles’ grandchildren Jarod, Jordyn, Hannah and Chase will continue with his legacy of creativity and love of family, his Sephardic heritage and community.
Charlie was born in New York, New York. He graduated from Forest Hills High School and continued his education at Queens College and Mayer School of Design in Manhattan, New York where he studied to become a fashion designer and production manager. He met his sweetheart, Sue, in 1962 and had fifty-seven years filled with memories, love and laughter. Their journey brought them through Long Island, York PA, Hollywood FL, and finally Raleigh NC where he retired and enjoyed his hobbies of designing and building furniture. He was a successful business owner of multiple fashion companies, retail stores and finally landed the role of gas station owner with his brother-in-law Mark before retiring, and retiring again and again… After trying out various hobbies, he found his passion in stained glass. We all wish he had more time to create all the pieces in his sketchbooks. When he wasn’t sketching you could find him on the bocce court or the pickleball court making new friends and enjoying his latest retirement.
Say not in grief ‘He is no more’ but in thankfulness that he was. -Hebrew Proverb
