Raleigh - Charles Ashley Williams, 94, died Monday, February 5, 2018 at Sunrise Senior Living at North Hills. A native of Wake County, he was born to C. C. Williams and Nellie Wilder Williams. Charles was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran and worked with Southern Bell for eleven years before becoming a licensed building contractor. Charles is survived by his son, Charles T. (Tommy) Williams and wife Deborah; stepsons, Terry Oakes and wife Cindee, Jeff Oakes and wife Ivette and Eric Oakes; grandchildren, Christy W. Cochran and husband, Stephen and Charles Jason Williams and wife, Susan; step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Joshua Oakes; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Brandon Cochran, and Austin and Caiden Williams; sisters, Catherine W. Jones and Louise W. McClaid and husband Sherman; special friend, Janet “Sweetthang” Goff; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two wives, Marion Elizabeth Buffaloe Williams and Joyce Elizabeth White Oakes Williams; son, Dr. Lynwood A. Williams; seven siblings, Virginia W. Currin, Mae W. Holliday, Herbert C. Williams, Winfred B. Williams (Winnie), Susie W. Goodwin, Hazzie B. Williams, Peggy W. Adams Nipper Howard. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday at Bay Leaf Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wake Christian Academy, Bldg. Fund, 5500 Wake Academy Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603.
