Charles Franklin Westbrook Jr “Charlie”, age 50, of Turkey, NC passed away on Sunday at his
home. Charlie was born on January 31, 1972 in Pitt County.
Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter, Katelyn Mae Westbrook, and grandparents,
Harold and Willa Mae Wooten, Dempsey and Minnie Mae Westbrook.
Surviving Charlie are Ann (wife), Zachary (son), Ashley (daughter), Linda Wooten Burcham
(mother),Sherry Wooten (aunt), Hal Wooten (uncle) and wife Linda, Charles F Westbrook Sr
(father) and wife Kathy, Donna Westbrook (aunt), Linda Strickland (mother in law), extended
family and many friends.
Charlie met his wife when he was in high school. He wore an Alabama Southern Star jacket to
school one day and she knew he was the one.. They got married in January of 1992 and
almost thirty one years later she was still the love of his life and he was hers. They had three
children but sadly the middle one gained her angel wings at birth. It is comforting to know that
she was there to welcome him and they are together now forever. Zachary and Ashley were
blessed to have Charlie as their dad. He loved them with all of his heart and they will miss him
terribly.
Charlie wore many hats throughout his career. He began as a pizza restaurant worker and
worked up to being a training manager. He then worked for several years in the copier
business. He went from delivering copiers, to setting them up, to repairing them, to being the
service manager. For the last several years he has worked for Bayer Healthcare, Medrad
Service as a field service engineer. He started there repairing equipment and eventually moved
up to group lead. He had recently applied for and was being considered for a management
position. He was a dedicated, hard worker and he always strived to improve himself. He
recently received his Bachelor of Science in Business degree. He was never satisfied to just
have a job, he always had his eye on the next step up. He met so many amazing coworkers and
friends everywhere he worked. He was always willing to help people anyway that he could. He
was loved and respected by so many.
Charlie loved the beach, fishing, and driving his boat just a little too fast. He loved spending
time with his family and friends and was always ready to have a good time. Charlie’s bright
smile, quick humor and infectious laugh will be missed by anyone that knows him. Fly high and
rest easy until we meet again.
