Charles Heath Lanier, 88, died Friday at his home. A native of Onslow County, he was the son of the late Vivian Crosby Lanier and Bertie Mae Lanier. He proudly served his country on the USS Enterprise during WWII. After military service, he resided in Wilson and moved to Garner in 1971. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 14th at Stantonsburg City Cemetery in Stantonsburg, NC. Survivors include his sons, Michael D. Lanier and wife, Mary Ann of Fuquay-Varina and David C. Lanier and wife, Carolyn of Raleigh; grandchildren, Zach Lanier and wife, Diane of East Brunswick, NJ, Jason Lanier and Matthew Lanier, both of Raleigh; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Miriam Batts Lanier. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
