Charles Howard Williams

Charles Howard Williams, age 77, of Clayton, NC died on Thursday, January 30, 2025 in Surf City, NC. He was born on March 12, 1947 in Lewiston, Idaho to the late Cleo Howard Williams and Martha Haworth Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Williams of the home; his children, Sonja Williams of Oakland, CA, Levi Williams of Oakland, CA, Amanda Rich of Salem, OR and Daniel Thomas of Asheville, NC; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Rich of Salem, OR, Victoria Rich of Salem, OR and Mateo Craven of Asheville, NC; his sisters, Diane Clark of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Laurie Conforth, Portland, OR; his nieces, Johanna Mihoc (Moe), Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Katy Dame (Jereme) of Raleigh, NC and Emma Claggett (Zach) Basel, Switzerland and his nephews, James Clark (Deanna) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Charles spent many years learning and working throughout the United States. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Portland State University and later his Master's and Doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Over his working career Charles worked at Southern Growth Policies Board, City of Chicago as the Department Head of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, and his most recent job was with Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory as a Supervisor for the Application Team of Environmental Energy Technologies. He also served as a professor at the University of Missouri at St. Louis and the University of Illinois - Chicago.

The family will receive friends and family Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 1:00 to 1:45 pm in Garner United Methodist Church, 201 Methodist Drive, Garner, NC 27529.

His memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 2:00 pm in Garner United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Habitat for Humanity, Food Bank of Eastern NC or United Methodist Committee on Relief.
