Charles Kenneth Clayton Sr, 76, of Garner, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023.
He was preceded in death by parents, Elma and Nellie S. Clayton and brother, Stuart. Kenneth is survived by son, Kenneth Jr. and wife, Ashlie; brother Walter and his wife Kathleen; bonus son, Robert Lowe; grandchildren Kye and Ansley Lanning; nephews Robert and Taylor Clayton; niece, Amanda Clayton and special friend, Elizabeth DeLeon.
After graduating from Garner High School in 1964, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for two years before receiving an honorable discharge. Upon completing his duty to the Armed Forces, Kenneth embarked on a career in the communications industry with a company called CableVision, which later became Time Warner Cable. When a storm knocked out your cable, Kenneth was the one overseeing the teams that got the game back on your TV. Upon his retirement after 38 years, Kenneth was the second longest-standing employee with Time Warner Cable.
Family was everything to Kenneth. He cherished his lifelong relationship with his brothers. They had a daily presence in each others' lives; not one day passed without seeing each other. In addition to the love he had for his brothers, there were many extended family members that held a special place in his heart. He was an avid reader, history buff, and loved spending time outdoors, especially if the weather was warm, whether it be fishing, hunting, grilling out, or tinkering in his barn. Kenneth was the strong and silent type, yet far from a cliche as his sense of humor was unparalleled.
A special thanks to the many family members who brought comfort and care to Kenneth in his final days, especially his dear "sister" cousin, Aurelia Clayton.
