Charles L. “Charlie” Morton, 85, Passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020. A native of Franklin county, Charlie was born to the late Foster and Virginia Morton. (Virginia later known as Virginia “Granny” Cameron.). He was also preceded in death by brother, Bobby. Charlie served in the National Guard and was a Freemason and Amran Shriner. Charlie was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter, and numerous friends every chance he got. He enjoyed taking Duchess, his 12 year old dachshund and “favorite person” for daily rides in the truck. He loved listening to classic country music, oldies and watching westerns, HeeHaw and Discovery channel. He loved old cars, old motorcycles and Cushman scooters. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do and loved building and tinkering with things. Charlie spent his career as a master tile setter, crafting marble, ceramic, Mexican tiles, and making terrazzo and terrazzo inlays, many of which can be seen in many state buildings in Raleigh. He was one of the few masters who learned his art in the industry from an Italian tile setter, and his eye for detail was unparalleled. Due to the current circumstances, the family will be holding a private funeral. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Charlie is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Martha M. Morton; daughter, Kimberly Morton Langdon and husband, Ben; son, Johnny Morton and companion, Pam Brantley; and a brother, Wayne Cameron and wife, Brenda. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to Charlie’s favorite organizations: Masonic Children’s Home-Oxford Orphanage @https://mhc-oxford.org/ways-to-help/ or Shriner’s Hospital @https://donate.lovetotherescue.org/give/
