CLAYTON – Charles Sidney Britt, 77, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020. Due to COVID-19, the family will hold a private graveside service in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids. A memorial service and visitation will be held at a later date and will be announced by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Garner. Sidney was born in Elizabeth County, Virginia on April 13, 1943 to the late Willard Britt and Florence Harper Britt Hudson. Sidney enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking in the mountains. In Roanoke Rapids, he served as the Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America Troop 342. Strong in his Christian faith, Sidney was a member of Everett’s Chapel FWB Church in Clayton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Willie E. Hudson. Sidney is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Frances Britt; sons, Phil Britt and wife, Sherri of Romulus, MI, Doug Britt of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jacob Britt and Madison Britt of Romulus, MI, Elizabeth Britt and Rachel Britt of Raleigh; brother, Emory W. Britt, Jr. and wife, Anna of Virginia; niece, Martha Ann Meadows of Virginia; nephews, Emery Lee Britt of Virginia and Darrell Britt of Apex; along with his church family and friends.
