Charlie Celcirt Taylor, Jr.

Charlie C. Taylor, Jr., 101, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023. He was born January 9, 1922 in Middlesex, Nash County to the late Charlie C. Taylor and Ada Lewis Taylor.

Charlie honorably served his country in the US Army Air Corp. As a B24 bomber pilot in World War II, he flew 50 combat missions with the 485th Bomb Group while stationed in Italy. He achieved the rank of Captain and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He was co-owner of Four Seasons Garden Center for 32 years with his brother, Bill Taylor, in Raleigh and retired in 1985.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Longview Baptist Church,  2308 New Hope Rd. Raleigh, NC 27604.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am -11:00 am.

Mr. Taylor will be buried with military honors at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 South Wilmington St. Raleigh, NC 27603

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bobbie Lee Taylor of 22 years, and his second wife, Maverine Beaman Taylor of 50 years. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Dean Taylor Jr.; three stepdaughters, Brenda Andrews (David), Beverly Adams (Mike), and Vicki Austin (Joe); his son-in-law, Earl Higdon, Jr. and his brother, William (Bill) Taylor.

He is survived by his daughter: Gail Taylor Higdon; sons: Dean Taylor (Treatie), Ronnie Taylor; grandchildren: Scarlette Chappell (Chris), Sharon Scott (Kevin), Karen Bass (Robbie), Robbie Higdon, Nicki Kopsa (Thomas), Mary Beth White (Chase), Allison Cox (Blake), Adam Austin (Nicole); eleven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews .
