Raleigh - Chip English, 59, son of Johnny and Evelyn English and a lifelong resident of Raleigh, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Garner. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, Glenwood Avenue. Chip, the owner of Gentle Touch Handscrub Car Wash in Raleigh, was an avid N.C. State fan and supporter. His favorite things included going to Myrtle Beach with his wife, Ellen, and the crew; playing golf with family and friends; attending Wolfpack football, baseball, and basketball games (he was a regular behind the bench during N.C. State basketball games); and cheering on the Wolfpack at the ACC Basketball Tournament for over 25 years. In 1983, Chip traveled over 2,000 miles to see N.C. State win the National Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chip is survived by his loving wife, Ellen; his sister, Wanda Mauney and her husband, Lee; his nephew, Justin Mauney, his wife Sarah, and their children, Jackson and Mary Marshall; his brother-in-law and close Wolfpack buddy, Johnnie Barefoot; and many loving family and friends, including his longtime canine companion, Norman. Chip will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wolfpack Club PO Box 37100 Raleigh, NC 27627 or any charity in Chips honor.
