SMITHFIELD- Christine Cox Brantley, 65, died peacefully on Wednesday. She suffered from a stroke during her morning walk with her husband of 47 years. Chris and Quinton had just relocated to Richmond Hill, GA from Smithfield. Chris was born in Sebring, Florida. She graduated Sebring High Class of ’67 with post graduate studies at UHK. Her integrity, humor and thoughtfulness was evident in both her professional and personal life. Her contagious smile and outgoing personality broke down barriers and opened doors to an exciting and fulfilled life. She enjoyed pulling people together by giving open prayer at family gatherings and being the lead singer at birthday celebrations. She was the life of the party. Raised as a Christian with family values, Chris was always honest, respectful and to-the-point with her opinions. She will never be forgotten. Chris is survived by her husband, Quinton Brantley, Jr.; her son, Quinton Brantley, III, daughter-in-law, Meg Phelps Brantley and granddaughter, Emerson Brantley from Waxhaw, NC ; her brother,-in-law, Don Brantley and sister-in-law, Helen Brantley from Durham, NC; her sister, Jayne Miller and brother-in-law, Chuck Miller from Melbourne, FL; her sister, Terrie Sager and brother-in-law, Pastor Ed Sager from Sebring, FL; her brother, Roy Cox and sister-in-law, Kristy Cox from Lakeland, FL and brother, David Cox and sister-in-law, Claudia Cox from Sebring, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Tabitha Cox from Sebring, FL. Memorial services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends following the service.
