Raleigh-Christopher Charles Mangum, 58, a devoted servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, beloved son, brother, and husband, father of three and grandfather of four, was called into the presence of his Savior and King on Thursday, May 2, 2013, following a bicycle accident. Chris was a native of Raleigh, attended Sanderson High School, and graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering - Construction. He worked for over 30 years in his familys heavy highway construction company, C.C. Mangum, Inc., which built a large part of the road infrastructure in Wake County and the greater Research Triangle Region. After the sale of the business in 2010, Chris founded C.C. Mangum Consulting, assisting heavy equipment owners in the management of their fleets. Chris placed his faith in Jesus Christ in the mid-1970s and was a very active member of Raleigh First Assembly. Chris also co-founded Jobs for Life (formerly The Jobs Partnership), a national ministry devoted to helping unemployed and under-employed individuals find dignity and wholeness in life through meaningful work, to the glory of God. Chris also enjoyed recreational cycling and participated in many long-distance endurance rides, including the 100+ mile Assault on Mount Mitchell, which he completed in 2012. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Pat H. Mangum; daughter Leslie Mangum Bryant, son-in-law Douglas E. Bryant, and granddaughter Lucy E. Bryant; daughter Andrea Mangum Chapman, son-in-law Chad J. Chapman, granddaughters Evangeline P. Chapman and Hazel S. Chapman, and grandson Jude D. Chapman; and son Christopher Charles Mangum, Jr. Chris was preceded in death by his father William Edward Mangum. He is survived by his mother Geraldine B. Mangum; brother Merl E. Mangum and his wife Amy E. Mangum; sister Jeanne Mangum Andrus and her husband Dr. Thomas R. Andrus, Jr.; and brother Michael D. Mangum and his wife Talmadge H. Mangum. Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 5th, at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh (www.bryan-leefuneralhome.com). Chris Homegoing Celebration Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 6th, at Raleigh First Assembly, 3249 Blue Ridge Road,Raleigh. A private graveside service will follow.
