Clara K. Rush

Clara K. Rush, 89 of Cary, NC went to be with her Lord and heavenly family on Friday, March 25, 2016. She was born in Greensboro, NC on February 4, 1927.  From an early age, Clara was drawn to education, service, and ministry.  Toward the end of WWII, she received a Nursing Degree via the Cadet Nurse Corps program.  She provided nursing care over the next 53 years, including serving as the Director of Education at Rex Hospital.  She remained a lifelong learner, attending The University of Virginia, graduating from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine with a BS of Nursing and from NC State University with a Masters in Education. She remained active at Highland Baptist Church including teaching Sunday School and many classes for over 45 years, serving as a deacon, starting the small group program, and supporting others in their times of need. She was preceded in death by her mother, Luvenia Albright; sister, Hallie Bodor Wrightman; and daughter, Kimberley Rush Connell. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Lindsay H. Rush; son and daughter-in-law, Lindsay and Lisa Rush of Agoura Hills, CA; grandchildren, Tyler and Ashley Rush, niece, Marty Boughey of San Rafael, CA; nephew Dr. Anton Bodor of Springfield, ME, sister-in-law, Brenda Rush of Rockville, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on March 29, 2016 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC from 6 to 8 PM.  The funeral service will be on held on March 30, 2016 at Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Rd., Raleigh, NC at 2 PM.  Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Highland Baptist Education Scholarship fund via the above address.  Clara Rush started this fund in honor of her mother’s passing.
