Clarence "Captain" Hayes lived an extraordinary life of 100 years, just shy of 101 years old. Clarence passed away peacefully in his home in Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. He was born in Franklinton, NC.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfonzo and Lessie Hayes; brothers, Alfonzo, Lee Jr and baby brother Hayes; and his beautiful, loving wife, Hilda W. Hayes.
As a veteran of the US Navy and Marine Corp, Clarence served his country for over 20 years with honor and integrity. Following his military career, Clarence worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. He then graduated from Seminary school, which lead him teaching the word of God to his grandchildren, and everyone he would meet, including the Garner Senior Citizen Center. Clarence enjoyed traveling the world, photography, spending time with his family and his dogs. He loved to travel with his honey(wife) and their sons. While traveling, Clarence reached 6 continents and 49 states.
He is survived by sons, Aaron Hayes, Jeffrey "King" Hayes, and Anthony Hayes; granddaughters, Jennifer K. Hayes, Kelly E. Hayes, Katrina L. Hayes, and Laura Lynn Hayes; his five great grandchildren, Jazmine, Willie, Brandon, Grace, and Kendall.
