Clarene Mcswain Whitfield

Garner - Clarene McSwain Whitfield, 82, died Tuesday. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Ida Black and John Lawson McSwain. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Garner Advent Christian Church. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. Surviving are her daughters, Jane R. Bowman and husband, Donald of Halifax, VA and Jennifer A. Granger of Garner; brothers, Arnold McSwain of Shelby; brother in-law, James Wilson of Blacksburg SC; grandchildren, Judith Leija-Vazquez and husband, Celso Vazquez, Christopher D. Bowman and Jessica A. Bowman; seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Whitfield was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Long Whitfield; sisters, Vivian M. Davidson, Dezzie M. Warren and Jane Gilreath Wilson; brothers, John McSwain and Bonnie Edward McSwain. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 PM Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
