Claudia Harris Wall

Claudia Harris Wall, 95, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2013 at The Oaks at Mayview in Raleigh, NC. Claudia touched the lives of all she knew with her sparkling smile, unique sense of humor and generous, warm nature. She loved life, adventure, good times and all her Albemarle friends. Claudia was born June 15, 1918 in Little Rock, Arkansas, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R. P. Harris. She attended the University of Texas where she was a Blue Bonnet Belle. While enrolled in nursing school at Johns Hopkins, she met and married Dr. G. Ritchie Wall. In 1945 they moved to Albemarle, NC where Dr. Wall practiced family medicine for over thirty years. Claudia often helped out in the practice cheerfully welcoming patients and serving as office assistant. Claudia was an active member of Central United Methodist Church and an energetic volunteer for many community organizations. She served on the boards of the Stanly County Library and the Foundation for Stanly Community College. Claudia is survived by her daughter, Anita Berry and husband Harold (Raleigh, NC) and her daughter Sylvia Wesche (Colorado Springs, CO), three grandchildren and their spouses, Mebane Pruitt (Neil), Hal Berry (Leslie) and Anna Traenkle (David) and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother, Peter Harris, and her son-in-law, Ulrich Wesche.The family would like to thank the staff at Woodland Terrace and The Oaks at Mayview for their excellent care. We would also like to thank Shirley Blackwell for her friendship to Claudia while she lived in Raleigh the past seven years. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 12 at 11:00 am at Central United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends after the service, and a private burial will follow.
