Clifton "Cooper" Jones

Clifton “Cooper” Jones, 85, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023. A native of Wake County, Cooper was born October 7, 1937 to the late Adley and Violet Louise Pittman Jones. In the 1960's he served in the North Carolina National Guard. He loved his country and proudly flew the American flag year round. Shortly after serving he opened Jones Radio TV Service in Garner and was affectionately known by so many in town as “TV”. After he closed his shop, he started Clifton Jones Painting Company, was very successful and enjoyed his work. He could be found listening to the radio and whistling while he worked. His family could always rely on him for the most accurate weather forecast because of his love and fascination for weather. Most of all, he loved tinkering with things and could figure out how to fix anything. He was a very humble man and was always willing to help out when he could.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 Benson Road Garner, NC 27529. Burial will follow at Hayes Chapel Christian Church Cemetery, 315 E. Garner Road, Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends from 1-1:50 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home.

Cooper is survived by his daughters, Glenda Ann Jones Lewis and Sherry Ellen Jones Horne; grandchildren, Felicia Marine Hooser, James Brandon Powell, Melissa Ann Nichols, Rocky Eugene Lewis, Joshua Paul Horne, Jacob Steven Horne, and Alisha Emily Horne; great grandchildren, Elijah, Savannah, Paul, Summer, Wyatt, and Henley, sisters, Dotsey Jean Harper, Mary Jones Youngeson, and Judith Turner; brother, Leroy Jones; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Cooper was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Helen Kearney Jones; sisters, Lula Mae Bass and Virginia J. Harper; and brother, James Robert Jones.
