Clinton Hamilton Smoke, III died Monday at his home in Raleigh. He is survived by his wife Debby, two lovely daughters, Samantha and Rachel; his sister, Kimberly Smoke Freidman of Roswell, GA.; his brother, Christopher Smoke of Jacksonville, FL.; and his parents, Jean Hill Smoke of Washington, NC and Clinton H. Smoke, Jr., of Asheville, NC. He is also survived by a step-brother, Robert M. Slater, Jr. presently deployed overseas with the U. S. Army and many aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews in NC, GA and IL. Clint was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on March 11, 1970, graduated from Westwood High School in Westwood, MA., attended UNC Greensboro, Wake Technical Community College and graduated from NC State with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Clint was employed as a chemical engineer at Cormetech Inc., of Durham, a leading producer of emission control systems for industrial air-pollution control. He loved his work and was passionate in his pursuit to make this planet a safer and more healthful place to live. Clint loved his family, scuba diving, machining, wood working, welding and computer programming. He proudly watched his kids play sports and music and he kept family members posted on their growth and accomplishments. Services will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6221 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, on Saturday, March 12 at 11 am with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Rachel and Samanthas college account; an NC 529 Plan, P.O. Box 40877, Raleigh, NC 27629-0877.
