(Psalm 37:3) Garner – Clinton Isaac Ousley, 93, of Garner, North Carolina, passed away at his home, with his beloved wife at his side, and family surrounding him in his final days. He was born, January 8, 1929, in Buies Creek (Harnett County), North Carolina, the son of Henry Chapman Ousley and Laura Elizabeth Yates Ousley. Clinton is survived by his loving daughters, Andrea Hawes Ousley and Opal Yates Ousley. He is also survived by his second wife, Ruby T. Miller-Ousley; her children, daughter, Lee Andrea Miller; son, Donald W. Miller, II; and three grandchildren, Cora, Chase, and Madison Miller; sister-in-law, Ruth W. Booker. Mr. Ousley is survived by many treasured nephews, nieces, and their families. Clinton was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Wells Ousley (1936-1984); and was the last of seven brothers, SSgt H.C. Ousley, Jr., USAAF MIA, Rev. J. Bruce Ousley, Dr. John W. Ousley, Rev. Carl Lee Ousley, Cptn J. Clifford Ousley, USMC, SA FBI; and Stacy Ray Ousley HM, USN. Mr. Ousley was educated at Campbell College, Atlantic Christian College (Barton College), East Carolina College (ECU), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning his Master of Arts degree in education. He worked for 30 years as an educator and principal for the state of North Carolina in Sampson County (Union High School) and Wake County, spending 23 years at Vandora Springs Elementary School in Garner. He was well-loved by students and teachers and was honored at the 60th anniversary of Vandora Springs Elementary. He loved his churches and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Clinton was a loyal husband and father, as well as an advocate of lifelong learning and education. He spent his retirement with Ruby, traveling with ELDERHOSTEL, enjoying adult classes at NC State, the NC Symphony, NC State Football games, and theater, and learning ballroom dancing. He continued to provide love and support to his daughters, Opal and Andrea, telling them, “You belong to the world, not me” and “Do good for mankind.” We will miss and love him forever. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church of Garner, 503 Lakeside Drive, Garner, North Carolina 27529. The family will receive friends and relatives at a reception following the service.
